About Us:
Our Story
In May 1986 Kim was hired as a Police Officer in Topsail Beach,
NC. On May 9, 1986 another officer took Kim around to the
different businesses introducing him as the new officer. When they
arrived at Bowman's Grocery (Cynthia's parents store), Kim was told,
"this is owned by one of the towns most colorful characters" (referring
to Cynthia's dad). Kim was introduced to Cynthia's dad, Frank. As Frank
and the other officer talked, Kim noticed a young lady filling the Coke
cooler. She was only introduced to him as Frank's daughter. Late that
same evening they briefly meet again at the Putt Putt.
It was not until June 9, 1986 that Kim would once again see
Cynthia when he responded to a police call at Topsail Realty, where she
was working. The two talked for only a moment yet Cynthia's co-worker
insisted that Kim had been flirting. Later that evening as Kim drove his
patrol car through town, Cynthia did a strange jump/skip across the road
in front of him. Kim stopped to see what was the matter.
Finding everything was okay, he then asked her to join him for dinner
that evening at the China Doll. Cynthia requested that Kim ask her
dad's
permission. Her dad's response was, "She is old enough to make up her own mind."
After spending three and a half hours at dinner and not wanting the
evening to end, they took a romantic moon lit stroll on the beach.
After a whirlwind romance, Cynthia's life was changed by
her father's actions and she had to move out. That evening Kim and
Cynthia decided to elope. July 3, 1986 they got their marriage license
and then on July 9, 1986 at the Horry County, SC courthouse they
married.
Now after 21 years of marriage we have started this
ministry to help other couples who may be experiencing similar trials as
we have had. We are available for speaking engagements or for marriage
retreats. We specialize in marital issues as well as parenting issues.
We are the parents of two teenage daughters that we are
most proud of: Kristy and Carolyn who has been a real inspiration in our
lives and in the start of this ministry.
